On 6 February 2026, the Morandi Room of the FAST Conference Center (Piazzale Rodolfo Morandi 2, Milan) hosted a high-level conference on “Decarbonisation Energy Strategies and Sustainability for End Users: Linking International Macroeconomic Research Recommendations with the Development of Sustainable and Shared Local Policies”, organised by Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico (RSE) in collaboration with the Club of Rome.

The event focused on the economic, social, and distributional impacts of implementing the recommendations of the Club of Rome’s Energy4All report, with a special focus on the European and Italian contexts. Bringing together the scientific community, policymakers, and energy system stakeholders, the conference aims to foster a qualified dialogue on aligning European and national energy policies with scientific recommendations, while exploring practical implications for citizens, businesses, and local territories.

ETIP SNET members played a central role in the event:

  • Ilaria Losa, co-organiser of the event and WG1 Co-Chair, opened and chaired the conference, guiding discussions and closing the session with a summary of key outcomes.

  • Antonio Iliceto, ETIP SNET Chair, presented at the session on Decarbonisation Energy Strategies and Sustainability for End Users, highlighting the role of customers at the centre of the energy transition.

The conference also examined the social costs and broader impacts of the energy transition, while providing a platform for roundtable discussions on local energy policies and recommendations from scientific research. Contributions from representatives of C40 Cities, Regione Lombardia, Bocconi University, and the Club of Rome will offer a multi-stakeholder perspective on sustainable energy strategies and practical implications for citizens, businesses, and local territories.

This initiative underscores the active contribution of ETIP SNET members in shaping energy transition strategies, linking scientific research with actionable policies for end users and local communities.
