ETIP SNET

22nd Regional Workshop

10:00 - 13:00 (CET)

Location: Bilbao, Spain – EUPZ Theater 3, Hall 5

The third ETIP SNET Regional Workshop of 2025, "Unleashing Flexibility: Buildings and Industry as Active Grid Players", dedicated to Western Europe, will delve into the WG1-led Task Force Paper on Flexibility by Built Environments and Industry. The session will focus on flexibility as a key enabler for the decarbonisation of energy grids with growing RES integration. Discussions will cover demand response, sector integration, district heating, and the role of industry in providing flexibility. Innovative solutions such as digitalisation and decentralised energy trading will be highlighted, alongside regulatory and market challenges.

The Workshop will gather a wide audience active in the energy landscape, including representatives from the European Commission, energy technology and storage providers, transmission system operators (TSOs) and distribution system operators (DSOs), ICT providers, energy utilities, research and innovation organisations, national ministries and regulators, energy agencies, and funding bodies. This Regional Workshop particularly aims to engage professionals and stakeholders from Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, Ireland, as well as the broader ENLIT audience.

The event will provide you with the opportunity to meet, discuss, exchange ideas, and network with Western European projects and stakeholders from the wider energy landscape. Learn about R&I projects across Europe and contribute to identifying R&I gaps, challenges, and priorities, promoting a vibrant exchange of ideas and best practices. Participants will also have the opportunity to voice their concerns regarding R&I priorities and challenges in the field of Flexibility Provision in smart grids, to discuss unresolved R&I issues within this framework. These insights will be instrumental in informing discussions at the European Commission level, contributing to the shaping of future research agendas and policy frameworks that support the energy transition.

This will be an in-person-only event, taking place at the ENLIT Exhibition Arena within the Enlit Conference in Bilbao, with no option for online attendance. Due to limited capacity, reserve your spot in advance!

Consult the final agenda and read the proceedings for further details and takeaways.

Registration for this workshop is free; however, please note that a valid Conference ticket is required for entry. For more information and to book your ticket, please visit this page (for the ETIP SNET Workshop, a free EXPO pass is sufficient).
