BRIDGE is a European Commission initiative that brings together projects from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe with a focus on Smart Grids, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalisation. It fosters collaboration among experts to enhance Europe’s energy infrastructure and moderate discussion around the real challenges faced in demonstration projects, identify solutions to overcome barriers to innovation, share knowledge, and deliver recommendations to accelerate the energy transition.
The BRIDGE General Assembly is an annual event designed to facilitate structured dialogue and cooperation among member projects. For the projects, it's a key moment for sharing results, engaging in discussions, and exchanging experiences to align efforts across the European energy landscape. The 2025 edition took place on 25-26 March in Brussels, bringing together BRIDGE projects, representatives of the European Commission, experts, and investors.
During the assembly, ETIP SNET (European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for Energy Transition) reaffirmed its essential role in guiding the European energy system integration and innovation. As a platform dedicated to aligning research, market needs, and policy frameworks, ETIP SNET serves as a vital bridge between stakeholders.
In a dedicated session, Luis Cunha, ETIP SNET Chairman, highlighted how the platform strongly aligns with other EU initiatives like BRIDGE, stressing the importance of coordination across platforms. With a rapidly expanding network, ETIP SNET continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Europe’s energy transition.
