The newly released ETIP SNET Brochure offers an in-depth overview of the initiative, outlining its mission, strategic objectives, and the stakeholders driving its progress. Since its creation, ETIP SNET has fostered collaboration among a wide array of participants, focusing on developing innovative solutions for integrating renewable energy and modernising the electricity grid.
As stated by Luis Cunha, ETIP SNET Chair:
"The 2024 brochure highlights the key areas where we are focusing our efforts to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, resilient, and integrated energy system, as:
Grid Modernisation and Digitalization:
We are prioritising research and innovation to modernize and digitalize electricity grids, enabling them to integrate higher shares of renewable energy and support new technologies like electric vehicles and energy storage.
Customer Empowerment:
Empowering consumers to actively participate in the energy market remains a core objective. We are exploring innovative ways to enhance demand response, energy efficiency, and prosumer engagement.
System Flexibility and Resilience
Increasing the flexibility and resilience of the energy system is crucial as we transition to a largely renewable-based grid. Our research focuses on developing advanced forecasting tools, improving grid stability, and enhancing cybersecurity.
Mr. Cunha also shed light on the collaborative nature of the initiative:
"ETIP SNET brings together a diverse range of stakeholders from across the energy sector. This collaborative approach ensures that our research and innovation priorities are aligned with the needs of industry, policymakers, and society as a whole."
In conclusion, he added:
"As we move towards 2030 and beyond, ETIP SNET will continue to drive innovation and provide strategic guidance for the evolution of Europe's energy networks. I encourage all stakeholders to engage with our platform and contribute to shaping a sustainable energy future for Europe."
