Sunday. 01 December 2019

During European Utility week in Paris last November, the BRIDGE initiative organised 4 sessions that raised central topics for the future of the energy markets.

During the first day, an internal meeting of the BRIDGE task force Replicability and Scalability Analysis was organized to present the methodology developed and select projects able to test it (WISEGRID and GOFLEX). This meeting was followed by an opened session on the same topic, to discuss on how to maximise the replication potential of solutions developed in EU funded projects, with speakers from EC (DG ENER, EASME) and BRIDGE projects.

In the second day, chair of the BRIDGE working group Data Management, Olivier Genest, moderated a session on digitalization of the energy sector, organized by DG CONNECT. The objective of this session was, among others, to understand how the projects tackle the ‘greening by design’ paradigm.

The same day, another session organized by DG ENER and BRIDGE support team invited projects representatives to discuss their approach to integrate the building, transport and industry sectors in the energy grid management. The aim was also to understand how they can contribute to the grid stability for the benefit of the whole system, by offering flexibility in energy consumption or production.

Finally, a session on storage services for network operator was taking place the third day. EU funded projects presented which storage technologies they implement and how they contribute to the optimal functioning of the energy system. Business case for concrete storage solutions and digitalisation aspects facilitating the use of storage solutions were also touched upon.’
