About European Utility Week

European Utility Week (EUW) is the premier landmark event in Europe for the entire smart utility sector, accumulating over 12,000 international smart energy stakeholders and 600 exhibitors.

It is a dynamic and energizing 3-day business, innovation and information platform in the form of a conference-led exhibition. The event facilitates greater networking and content sharing opportunities across the entire energy spectrum from generation to end use. The programme is developed to serve every level of the utility value chain in the form of a strategic and policy forming environment during the exclusive Summit and the more practical case studies presented during the Hub Sessions, free to attend for all visitors.

3-5 October 2017, RAI Amsterdam, will see the event co-locating with four new events including:  EMART Energy – the leading energy trading event, Energy Revolution Europe – exploring the most recent developments in renewables integration and energy storage, Intelligent Buildings Europe – emphasizing the importance of buildings in our everyday life and the key role they have in our smart cities future, and the highly revered innovation programme Initiate!

The European Technology and Innovation Platform Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) is a platform dedicated to making sure that Europe’s Research and Innovation facilitates all energy customers and market actors to rely on optimally integrated networks, systems and markets.  ETIP SNET Chairman Konstantin Staschus is due to present “Going beyond the grid: ETIP SNET priorities for research and innovation” on Thursday, 5th October from 10:20 to 10:40 during the EUW2017 Summit sessions – T&D The Intelligent Grid – Enabling the Grid of the Future in session. Here he will outline the role of ETIP SNET in Energy System Integration, give an official presentation of the new ETIP SNET Implementation Plan and describe ETIP SNET’s Vision for the future European Energy System.  He will also speak at during the Panel: “How to enable the Grid of the Future” on the same day from 12:20 to 13:00.

The BRIDGE Initiative at EUW 2017

The European Commission is supporting, via Horizon 2020 – the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever – projects on Smart Grids and Energy Storage. Through innovation these projects have the potential to contribute to a successful, digitally-supported energy transition. To complement the work of each individual project, the European Commission has launched the BRIDGE initiative, to allow the ongoing Horizon 2020 Smart Grid and Energy Storage projects to contribute to creating a common view on cross-cutting issues they encounter that may be obstacles to innovation. So far 22 BRIDGE projects have confirmed their participation.
