ETIP SNET, in collaboration with regional partners E.ON Energy Research Center, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and EDP Distribuição held its first two successful workshops in Aachen, Germany and Lisbon, Portugal in September. Together they gathered over 220 participants from all over Europe to share knowledge on local projects and identify research priorities.
The Aachen Workshop gathered attendees and project representatives from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Switzerland; while the Lisbon Workshop drew participants from France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the UK. The workshops provided a unique opportunity to learn from the Central and Western Region’s national Research & Innovation (R&I) projects and the chance to contribute to the identification of R&I gaps, challenges and priorities at Regional and EU levels. It was also a great opportunity to network among peers in neighboring countries, learn about state of the art in system operation, renewables integration and digitisation solutions in the energy system.
