ETIP SNET appoints 2020 Work Group chairs

The 13th Governing Board meeting of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for the Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) on the 31th of  January 2020 in Brussels presented an opportunity for key energy stakeholders to come together to reflect on last year’s achievements, appoint new Working Groups Chairs and co-chairs and discuss the 2020 action plan.

After an eventful and successful 2019 which included the nomination of Guido Guida chairman, a series of multistakeholder workshops and  webinarsregional workshops in Petten and Paris, ETIP SNET continues 2020 with the same ambition of shaping the energy system of the future.

Guido Guida (ENTSO-E) who was selected to lead the platform in September 2019 will continue his chairmanship throughout 2020. He is sided by vice chair Nikos Hatziargyriou (EDSO) and vice chair Eliano Russo (EASE).

During the Governing Board meeting the following candidates were appointed to fill in the roles of WG chairs and co-chairs for the year 2020:

  • WG1: Gareth Bissel (Chair), Antonio Iliceto and Natalie Samovich (Co-Chairs)
  • WG2: Yves Schlumberger (Chair), Enrique Morgades and Josè Freitas (Co-Chairs)
  • WG3: Alexander Wiedermann (Chair), Martin Pogoreutz and Carlos Herce (Co-Chairs)
  • WG4: Miguel Sanchez (Chair), Maher Chebbo and Norela Constantinescu (Co-chairs)
  • WG5: Venizelos Efthymiou (Chair), Aurelie Schuyer and Mahboubeh Hortamani (Co-chairs)

In addition, two new “rotating” vice-chairs representing working groups within the chairmanship of the ETIP SNET were appointed, these are Yves Schlumberger (WG2) and Alexander Wiedermann (WG3) who replace Antonio Iliceto (WG1) and Michael Huebner (NSCG).

ETIP SNET would like to congratulate all candidates on their new roles.

Key highlights in ETIP SNET’s 2020 activities will include: the new 10-year Roadmap 2020-2030, the Implementation Plan 2021-2024, ETIPs events, webinars,  participation in high profile events and the continuation of the ETIP SNET Energy Stories.

European Commission representative Manuel Sainz Andres also took the opportunity to update the Governing Board on the latest news on Horizon Europe missions and partnership schemes for which ETIP SNET will continue efforts to shape.
