Key energy stakeholders advance a more efficient, secure and environmentally friendly European energy system by 2050
On 27 June 2018 at the Square in Brussels, the European Technology and Innovation Platform Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) will present its Vision 2050 for:
A low-carbon, secure, reliable, resilient, accessible, cost-efficient, and market-based pan-European integrated energy system supplying the entire society and paving the way for a fully carbon-neutral circular economy by the year 2050, while maintaining and extending global industrial leadership in energy systems during the energy transition.
Launching the special ETIP SNET report: Vision 2050 – Integrating Smart Networks for the Energy Transition: Serving Society while Protecting the Environment, the high-profile event will include the confirmed participation of: Nikos Hatziargyriou, ETIP SNET Chairman and Patrizia Toia, Vice-chair of the ITRE Committee – European Parliament.
More than 300 experts have joined forces with national representatives to provide a consolidated vision that has been further debated and adapted in regional workshops and public consultations.

In a first part of the event, a joint presentation of the ETIP SNET 2050 Vision will be given by the ETIP SNET Chairman; alongside ETIP SNET Vice-chairs Konstantin Staschus and Thierry Le Boucher whilst a Keynote speech will be offered by Ms. Toia.
In a second part, several panel sessions will include the confirmed participation of policymakers and industry leaders such as:

The ETIP SNET Vision 2050 is the basis for defining the specifications for further research and innovation needs in the transition from today towards Europe’s energy systems of the future. Its purpose is to inspire all stakeholders to discover the RD&I challenges associated with a 2050 low-carbon, fully-integrated, and circular pan-European energy system with the electricity system as its backbone.
