The ETIP SNET initiative fulfills its mission of guiding research, innovation, and development through five Working Groups (WGs), each led by a Chair and two Co-Chairs. For more details, please download the ToR here.
WG 4 (Digitalisation of the electricity system and customer participation) addresses the role of Information and Communication Technologies as a key enabler throughout the entire electricity value chain, from generation to consumption. The communication layer is a fundamental component of the smart energy system, supporting observability, monitoring, control, and protection while reshaping the interaction between end users and the energy network. Emerging digital tools, including smart meters and social networks connected through the Internet of Things, will enhance customer participation in the planning and expansion of the energy system by leveraging big data analytics. However, the broad deployment of digital technologies must be accompanied by robust measures to ensure data protection against cyber threats and to safeguard customer information from unauthorised use.
The role of WG Co-Chair includes:
- Provide back-up to the Chair representing the WG within the ETIP SNET governance;
- Representing the WG externally during external events, if deemed useful;
- Support coordinating the WG’s activities.
These activities will be closely supported by the ETIP SNET Secretariat.
